I saw UP today.  It is misnamed as I was a crying mess throughout that movie.  I left feeling decidedly down.

I’m working on this project, which I will discuss at great length shortly, and a sub-plot in said project hinges very solidly on something that takes place in the new Pixar movie.   Talking dogs via a collar.

Admittedly mine is more of an aside, and the pixar instance is much more prominent (and better executed), but… I think I do have one good joke in there.  Besides, I really was intentionally <s>stealing</s> borrowing mine from The Simpsons, where they give Maggie an electronic translator.

INT. SPACESHIP

David and Alena, two earthlings, sit quietly, while their dog, Goliath, barks, furiously.

ALENA
The collar.  There’s a button on his collar, if you would just flip it.

DAVID
I had no idea that futuristic technology would be so neck based.

David fumbles with Goliath.

DAVID
Come here little buddy… what’d you call this thing again?

BEEPing sound as he turns off the inhibitor.

GOLIATH
Barkbarkbarkbarkba— THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.

DAVID
He can TALK!?

GOLIATH
HI!

ALENA
Not exactly.

DAVID
That’s amazing.  What a great idea!

GOLIATH
Scraaatch meeeee!

DAVID
What a terrible idea.

ALENA
Yeah but… he seems to like it more than the barking so I leave it on. I’ll admit, I’m glad it was off for his neutering.

GOLIATH
Bye bye me, bye bye me.
